Natalya Rotenberg, who was married in 2005 and has two children with her former husband, sought to declare the marital property agreement void through Moscow’s Tushinsky District Court.
However, the claim has now been rejected according to RAPSI (Russian Legal Information Service).
Divorce lawyers for the former husband said that the prenuptial agreement met all requirements of Russian legislation. It had been made on a notary form and there would have been no reason to declare it invalid.
Ms Rotenberg’s legal team argued that if the couple’s financial settlement is calculated using the terms of the prenup she will be placed at material disadvantage in comparison to her former husband.
According to Forbes, Arkady Rotenberg is worth $3.3 billion (£2.08 billion). The Moscow Times says that “companies associated with Mr Rotenberg have received more than one trillion rubles ($30 billion) in state contracts over the last five years”.
